General Education

At Newmeadow, our classes are primarily designed to cultivate skills necessary for kindergarten readiness. We emphasize individual development while also promoting participation within a broader social community.

Our goal is to enhance social and interactive abilities, encouraging children to engage in cooperative and appropriate play with their peers. We also prioritize the values of understanding, respect, and empathy.

Our integrated classrooms showcase a wide array of preschool behaviors, enabling children to learn how to cope with external distractions while also managing their internal ones. This approach helps them develop adaptive skills essential for thriving in an environment where learning styles may vary.

Modern Classroom

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) serves not only as a behavioral framework but also as a method to simplify goal attainment, facilitating children's understanding of the connection between words and concepts.

Our distinctive educational model creates a rich learning environment, where highly trained professionals in speech/language, motor skills, and behavior contribute their expertise. Their presence serves as both a resource and a role model for teachers and aides within the classroom.

Curriculum

All teaching is aligned with the New York State Learning Standards.

At Newmeadow, we have selected high quality curriculum to utilize in our classrooms. Below is a description of each used.

Experience Curriculum (All settings)

Our classrooms utilize Experience Curriculum. Our integrated curriculum system uniquely weaves 35 research-based skills into playful games and discovery projects. The cross-disciplinary model supports a child’s on-going social-emotional, physical, language and cognitive development.

Fundations (All integrated settings)

Our Level Pre-K Activity Set follows the same educational principles as all our other programs: explicit, systematic, interactive, and multisensory learning. Fundations® lessons encourage and improve students’ emerging understanding of the alphabet, letter-sound associations, and letter formation.

Assessment

As part of our program, we gather information about each child’s developmental abilities and evaluate progress so we can modify and adjust what we are doing in our classroom and/or therapy settings to deliver the best-individualized instruction for each child. This evaluation is communicated to families periodically during the school year using various formal and informal tools, forms, and resources.

Special Education

At Newmeadow, our foremost objective is to recognize each child as a unique individual who learns at their own pace and in their own manner.

Our dedicated staff is committed to nurturing the holistic development of each child—emotionally, socially, cognitively, physically, and creatively.

We believe that learning should be an active process, where every experience serves as a valuable opportunity for growth. The environment, activities, and social interactions are intentionally crafted to encourage individuality and foster positive self-esteem.

Daily, our certified and trained teaching staff focuses on developing a variety of skills, including communication (encompassing pragmatic skills), adaptive abilities, cognitive concept development, language recall, listening, attention, reasoning, transitioning, reading readiness, mathematics, and writing.

Newmeadow’s educators implement curriculum that focuses on learning as whole while also individualizing concepts for each child to meet their specific learning style. The engaging daily activities provide children with the chance to explore and learn through a curriculum that is developmentally appropriate.

Our related services, including speech, occupational, and physical therapy, are tailored to meet the specific needs of each child. This committed team not only supports the children individually but also collaborates with classroom teachers and parents. We ensure that sensory integration strategies, sensory diets, physical therapy plans, and speech objectives are consistently communicated to the teaching staff.

Teachers create a language-rich program daily while also addressing the sensory requirements of the children. As you navigate Newmeadow’s website, you will discover information about the ABA Clinic’s program. This exceptional initiative not only offers services for children diagnosed with Autism and other abilities, but also provides ongoing training for classroom staff at Newmeadow in Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), a proven method for behavior intervention.

Understanding behavior is essential for a child's development, and implementing effective behavioral strategies is crucial for their progress.
The Newmeadow team also offers group and individual parent training to support a home-school connection.

Children at School

Applied Behavior Analysis Clinic Program

The ABA Clinic offers a comprehensive program that incorporates various established techniques alongside applied behavior analysis.

Located within Newmeadow, the ABA Clinic caters specifically to children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). At the ABA Clinic, educators with specialized training deliver the behavioral therapy component of each child's individualized program. The Clinic is overseen by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) who are also New York State Licensed Behavior Analysts.

Services provided by the ABA Clinic are integrated with classroom activities, instructional methods, and additional therapeutic interventions. All personnel employ techniques from the ABA Clinic in their practices.
